How is it going everyone, I’m doing something a little different with this review as I’m going to review the third Album by one of the most talented singers today Jillian Banks, but we can just call her Banks

With her third Album titled III she shows the continued growth as a writer, singer and vocalist from the opening vocalizing of Banks on “Till Now” to the sober love ballad “What About Love” we are taken on a journey of a wide range of emotions and get more of an incite of where Banks is at this point in her career, which is still scratching the surface of her full potential.

As a fan of her two previous albums Goddess and The Altar, III feels like Banks has taken everything that worked well with those two and brought it here with even more experience and raw emotions if you can believe that.

Each song makes you feel something different, connections you to something that you might have experienced at some point which is a good sign of an artist that is very in tune with not only their own personal stories but can reach everyone on a boarder level.

The major singles off III “Gimme” is probably the biggest one off the album and rightfully so with a catchy tune and a beat that you can dance too in the clubs and getting much radio play. Gimme is very much Banks but also shows she is continuing too grow creatively

The Second single “Look What You’ve Doing To Me” ft Francis and The Lights is something a little different from Banks as it’s more upbeat from her usual moody and dark themes, but with true Banks fashion it has a hint of sadness as she sings about a relationship that was sold to her one way but isnt what she thought it was and her partner doesnt see her like they once did by “Looking her over” despite how happy she is when she is with them.

With “Contaminated” It’s somewhat a return to her roots and sounds like something that could have been on her Goddess album, and filled with lyrics that speak of an toxic relationship hence the title. Contaminated is the type of songs that Banks is known for with it’s dark and brooding vibe and her genuine raw vocals that you feel in your soul while listening

Even though those are the the big singles off the album for any fans of Banks knows that her albums are very much worth letting play from beginning to end. no song on III is a skip as they all tell their own unique stories while telling a bigger overall story on the album which is a rarity in music these days.

Here are a few personal favorites of mine that I would like to spotlight

“Sawzall” has a vibe of it’s own and sounds otherworldly as Banks reveals a side of her that we have only had glimpses of, its very raw and filled with Pain as she slowly realizes that her relationship has fallen apart and its too late to fix it no matter how sorry both people are for why things just couldn’t work out.

“Hawaiian Mazes” has an RnB vibe too it, here Banks speaks of how she might not have been too invested in this relationship even though she tries to convince herself that this is something that she wanted but she has to let them go because she not feeling it anymore.

“Alaska” Is another one of those new vibe songs from Banks that is more upbeat musically but still dark and brooding, something that Banks has become a master at, funny thing about this song even though it has a tropical/summertime vibe too it, the title is Alaska. if she does have another single off the album I feel this song should be the 4th single.

This album deserves to be heard by as many people as possible as I feel that Banks is one of the top singers and storytellers of this new generation of music that is filled with a lot of filler, Banks brings a lot of substance and true raw emotional feelings with each effort she’s put out so far and makes fans want more and anticipate what she will do next.

My Rating: 5/5
